On Tuesday 28th April, we held our latest Parents’ Wellbeing Walk in collaboration with Sehrish, a Hypnotherapist and Life Coach specialising in nervous system regulation.
We had planned a gentle outdoor walk in Victoria Park, but due to cold weather, we adapted and moved the session indoors to a warm and cosy café instead.
Despite the change in plans, the session was meaningful and well-received. Sehrish guided the group through a calming Box Breathing exercise (inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4, and hold again for 4). She also shared a powerful personal story about walking on broken glass, highlighting how fear is something we learn rather than being born with.
A key takeaway from the morning was the reminder that while we cannot always control the environment around us, we can change our mindset and choose how we respond. Consistent practice is important to build positive thinking and the belief that we can overcome difficulties.
We are grateful to all the parents who joined us and showed up for themselves despite the weather. These sessions are part of our commitment at Bridge Builders Wellbeing to support not only young people, but also their parents, because we believe a happy child starts with a happy, grounded parent.
Thank you to Sehrish for her warm and insightful guidance.
We look forward to organising more wellbeing walks in the coming months, with both outdoor nature sessions and flexible indoor alternatives when needed.
* Thanks to all the participants who kindly gave us permission to take and share photos from this session.
Thrilled to announce our Mums' Wellbeing Walk is listed in the Travel Well calendar!
Travel Well is Nottingham City Council’s initiative to help residents build healthier, more active habits through walking, cycling, and community activities. It supports led walks and wellbeing sessions to boost physical and mental health.
Virtual Coffee Morning
23 Feb 2026
Thank you so much for joining this morning’s virtual Parents' Coffee Morning. It was such a warm, honest and nourishing space. Your shares, reflections after the meditation, and openness made it really special. 💛
We all know how quickly life can pull us in every direction. Before we burn out, one of the kindest things we can do for ourselves (and our teens) is to build in small daily moments of calm.
Try to take just 5-10 minutes each day to calm down through meditation. It really does minimise burnout, even if it feels impossible some days because we’re so busy. Start tiny: maybe first thing in the morning, during a quiet coffee break, or right before bed. The key is consistency over perfection.
Remember: happy teen starts with happy parents.
We need to take care of our own mental health first. It’s not selfish, it’s essential. When we model calm and emotional balance, our teens feel it too.
Looking forward to seeing some of you in the WhatsApp groups. Feel free to join the wellbeing boosting or skills building group whenever you’re ready.
23 Jan 2026
We want to thank everyone who joined us for our very first gathering. It was a beautiful reminder that while we juggle work, family, and endless to-do lists, we truly don’t have to do it alone.
On Friday, 23 January, we officially launched our brand-new Parents Wellbeing Programme at the Nottingham Central Library Café. It was a morning filled with gentle care, shared experiences, and much-needed "me time" for parents who spend so much of their lives pouring into others.
We were incredibly fortunate to have Sehrish Sarwar, founder of NeuralTrance Therapy Ltd. joined us in this meetup.
This was just the beginning! Our Parents' Wellbeing Gatherings are now a monthly fixture. We’ll be continuing to mix things up with:
In-House Sessions: Cosy coffee mornings, gentle walks, or mindfulness.
Community Exploration: Visiting existing wellbeing events across Nottingham.
Missed this one? Don’t worry! We’d love to have you at our next monthly meetup.
